Sherard A. Tatum III MD
Dr. Tatum, MD, FACS, FAAP is professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Pediatrics at Upstate Medical University. He is medical director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Center and director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also co-director of the Craniomaxillofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Upstate. He trained in Otolaryngology at the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He did two fellowships, one in Craniomaxillofacial Surgery in Hamburg, Germany, the other in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, Davis in Sacramento, California. He is primarily focused on reconstruction particularly of cleft lip/palate and craniomaxillofacial disorders. He has served on the boards of JAMA Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Current Opinion in Otolaryngology, Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has traveled extensively on overseas surgical missions. He has given over 200 presentations, many international and co-authored over 175 publications. Dr. Tatum has received numerous awards for service and clinical excellence.
